Galarm is one of the best-known group alarm apps. It does a lot: group alarms, alarms you set for a friend, reminders, chat and a web app. RingLink does one thing: it gets a group of people out of bed at the same time, and shows who actually made it.
We make RingLink, so read this with that in mind. We have tried to be fair. Every Galarm fact below comes from Galarm's own website or its App Store page, checked on October 22, 2026. Where Galarm is the better choice, we say so.
The short answer
- Pick Galarm if someone in your group uses Android, or you want reminders, chat, a calendar view or a web app.
- Pick RingLink if everyone is on iPhone and the goal is simple: wake up together, and know for sure who got up.

What Galarm does well
Galarm has been around for years, and it shows. Galarm says it has more than 6 million downloads, and it has 4.7 stars from about 4,500 ratings on the US App Store. Here is where it is strong:
- It works on Android and the web. If one friend has an Android phone, this alone can decide it. Galarm Web lets you make and edit alarms from a laptop.
- Buddy alarms. You can set an alarm for a friend or family member, and Galarm tells you if they miss it.
- Instant alarms. One tap rings everyone's phone right now. This is useful for teams and on-call work.
- Chat on each alarm. People in a group alarm can talk about it in the app.
- A full reminder app. Repeats from hourly to yearly, categories, a day, week and month calendar, and Google Calendar links.
- A low price. Premium is $0.99 a month, $9.99 a year or $24.99 once, with a 14-day free trial.
If you want one app for alarms, reminders and group plans, Galarm is a very good choice.
Where RingLink is different
RingLink is not trying to be a reminder app. It is built around one moment: the morning you all agreed to get up. Everything in it is there to make that morning work.
You know who is up, without asking
Every person in the alarm shows as on time, late, snoozed or missed. No "you up?" texts. You open the app and you know.
Everyone has to really get up
Add a wake-up challenge to a shared alarm and the whole group has to finish it to stop the ring: solve math, type a phrase, take a photo of a spot you chose, walk, play a memory game, keep your face on screen or shake the phone. If someone ignores the alarm, it rings again.
Time zones are handled for you
Pick one time. When a friend accepts, the alarm is set on their phone at the right moment in their own time zone. This works well for long-distance couples and remote teams.
A reason to keep going
Streaks and weekly stats show how your mornings are going, and a group streak gives everyone a reason not to be the one who breaks it.
It still rings without signal
Once the alarm is on your phone, it rings from your phone. Internet is used for invites, syncing and the shared status, not for the ring itself.
Price: RingLink vs Galarm
RingLink Free gives you one shared alarm with a friend, the Math challenge, a starter set of ringtones, 2 voice ringtones and your last 7 days of history. Joining a friend's alarm is always free, so only the person who makes a bigger group needs Pro.
RingLink Pro adds unlimited shared alarms, groups of 3 or more, every ringtone, every wake-up challenge, unlimited voice ringtones and your full history. It is a monthly plan with a 3-day free trial, or a yearly plan with a 1-week free trial. Prices change by country and the app shows yours before you buy.
Galarm is free to start, with limits on group, buddy and instant alarms. Premium removes those limits and adds Galarm Web, more ringtones and full history, for $0.99 a month, $9.99 a year or $24.99 once.
If price is the main thing, Galarm is cheaper. If the goal is getting a group out of bed, RingLink's free plan already covers you and one friend.
